A Little Bit About Me...

I have always enjoyed English and Writing. I have kept a journal since I was in the 1st grade. I scored very high in these areas on my ACT's, as well as in all of my high school and college classes. I am enthusiastic, kind, positive and approachable. I passed my state boards on the first try because I feel I have excellent study skills. I enjoy working with people and find joy in helping others. I was a substitute teacher for a short period of time before taking a job as a counselor in 2004. In 2006 I moved to the Blue water area and have been employed as a medical social worker at a rehab and nursing center. I am looking for an opportunity to help others succeed in school and life.

I first look to see what kind of learner the student is, whether he/she is a visual, auditory, kinesthetic, or any combination of these learning styles. I am then able to formulate an approach for genuine learning. The next step is to ascertain what the student difficulties are in the subject matter and where the core of the difficulties may lie. I have earned a degree in History from the University of Michigan and I have earned my teaching certificate and Master's degree from Wayne State University. I have taught high school for seven years and have taught numerous Science, Math and Social Studies courses. I have taught writing classes as well.
