ADD/ADHD is one of my top subjects! I was diagnosed as ADD when I was in elementary school. My issue with the diagnosis always was, "Is there something wrong with me that I can't sit down and listen for hours with a pencil and paper, or is it with the fact I have to sit down and listen for hours with only a pencil and paper?" When I became a general education teacher, I worked towards making my math lessons activity-based while rotating through small groups of students for personalized lessons. I have found that many of the symptoms of ADD/ADHD are mitigated when students are doing a variety of activities with someone who has the time and patience to kindly redirect them when they become distracted.

I received my BA from Cedarville University in Elementary Education with an Emphasis in Special Education. I have been working with children since I was 16. I have worked with students from different types of backgrounds, economic statuses, and personailities. I have earned my BS in elementary education and was placed in various schools. I have experience with with a wide variety of dufferent students through Boys and Girls Club, Project Reads, and Girl Scouts. I have been subbing for Fort Wayne Community Schools since Febrary 2009. I have taught as a TA at Wright State University 2 years in interpersonal and business communications, I taught 1 year at Wright State University Branch Campus interpersonal communications, business communications, communications in the classroom, and mass media. I taught 3 years of English for Ft. Wayne Community Schools to high school students in the Youth Life Skills program. I have had nearly 2,000 hours of anatomy course work as well as I've taken biology, chemistery, and pharmacology at Indiana-Purdue University of Ft Wayne.

I have taught 4 and 5th grade in the Texas School Systems for 24 years. I worked as a retired teacher in the Adams Wells Special Services Coop for 3 years (2006-2009)as a teacher's aide with special needs students both in the elementary and high school levels. Those children varied from autistic, cerebal palsy, Attention Deficit Disorders with and without Hyperactivity. I really enjoyed working with these students to help them with their reading, math, and overall achievement.
