If a child feels as though they are in an atmosphere where they are safe, free of ridicule and bias, then they are willing to perform. This process can be a give take scenario however. I believe that learning through hands-on experience is the best way to fully comprehend material. I want to interest students in academics. To accomplish this, a teacher must show how math, or reading is useful; how anything can be exciting. I want to make learning fun. And I use a variety of tactics to accomplish this.

For subjects like math, it is simple to develop a step by step method for the students to write down and follow. Once the students have mastered the steps they are motivated to continue with the material because it seems straightforward. A Little Bit About Me...

I like to take the "mystery" out of the subject. Math can be especially scary to students who don't have a strong foundation in general mathematics and reading comprehension. I am currently volunteer tutoring an adult friend in general math and I am proud to say that her understanding of the basic principles have increased dramatically in only a couple of sessions.
