I have had a passion for reading all of my life. I pursued a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Wisconsin, which I received in 1973. I have taught children of all ages and disabilities in all academic areas. I prefer working with younger students. I have been published in a national education journal, "The Clearinghouse." As a graduate of Bethel University, I am currently pursuing a teaching career and am committed to excellence. While I was at Bethel, I earned two bachelor degrees, one in Creative Writing and one in Spanish. I assisted numerous friends by copy editing their essays, showing them where I saw they could improve while affirming where I saw their strengths. My teaching experience has been primarily focused on elementary education, however I have tutored freshman in English and History. I have a degree in psychology from St. Ambrose in Davenport and finished my licensure at Ottawa University in Phoenix. I am certified to teach K-6 in Arizona and I have applied for Iowa certification. Because of my elementary background, it is safe to say I am a very patient person and I use that skill in my ability. I allow the children to create their own paths and when there are roadblocks we work together to find a solution. I am not in the habit of giving students the answers. I feel education is most effective when self discovery is involved and I want my students to feel that they are learning and achieving in every way possible.
