1) I like to help the student define our goal: "What is it we are trying to achieve?" 2) "How do we get there?" Here I am open to suggestions from the student as to how we achieve that goal. This gives me clues to his/her learning style. 3) I try to help the student break down each problem or project into small, managable steps. If practicable, I prefer the use of physical objects or sketches to visually drive home geometric concepts, or use them as examples of "engineering problems" met and conquered by someone before them. I am very patient and think each child is gifted in unique ways by our Creator. And seeing a child learn, to see things "click" is one of the greatest experiences in life.
