A Little Bit About Me...

I have experience being an English tutor to four different families during my time abroad in Barcelona. My students varied in age, the youngest being seven and the oldest being 13. This experience allowed me to better understand students at all different levels and what teaching methods children at different ages better respond to. I also have experience using my passion for art as tools of learning. I have experience teaching drawing and painting as tools of stress relief and of memorization. I also tend to encourage students to read and help to kickstart their overall motivation for learning and discovering by tapping in to their creative as well as academic sides.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate, I've been very blessed to have received a degree in Business Communication. In college I learned how to become a better educator, and communicate with them on the highest level. Although, I tutor in all of the academic areas, I also enjoy helping my student appreciate the art of becoming a good writer, and thinkers. My students are also encouraged to read for relaxation, and entertainment. Making the education process fun is also an asset. The extensive course work, I received in college has enabled me to teach others to become academically proficient.

I have a very diverse background and I have many years of experience teaching in different subjects. I was an English teacher for one year in Korea, teaching children at a public school. I have taught fine art at a private school in Salinas. I have also been teaching martial arts and self-defense for over 10 years. I have worked with children as young as 4, to adults in their senior years. I hold a bachelor's degree in Business Marketing from San Jose State and I graduated with honors.

A Little Bit About Me...

After earning my BA and CA Teaching Credential in English, my love for the language and subject drove me to complete my MA in English and Comparative Literature in less than two years. Such an intense program demanded that I not only be highly organized, but that my analytical, writing, and verbal skills be immensely effective, as well. Consequently, I successfully translated these abilities to the many students I have taught and tutored over the past six years. I am comfortable lecturing on various subjects. However, I have seen the best results with repetition and continual reinforcement of the subject matter while weaving in larger ideas here and there. I am calm, patient, persistent, and supportive of everyone's particular abilities.
In 2009, I completed a profession editing certificate to add to my degrees in English and rhetoric.
