My desire is not to simply communicate information to students, but to accommodate material in such a way so that each individual student can learn a way that is easy and hopefully enjoyable. Not every student enjoys learning every subject, but I believe that an accommodating and understanding teacher, willing to work hard in order to make learning simple and useful, can give the student the necessary motivation and confidence to learn any subject well. I love helping children learn in a way that's fun and supportive. I strongly engage my students in the process by asking questions and balancing the different learning styles (auditory, written, verbal, physical). I can bring structure and focus to students' learning path in a compassionate and safe environment, and help them gain confidence and be successful.
I have always enjoyed helping people learn, from dancing and sailing in my youth, to English and French more recently. For two years I was a tutor at a resource center at a city college, where I helped students on a one on one basis with reading and writing skills. I have tutored privately a number of clients in French, and I currently teach a French class at an after care program.
