My preferred style of teaching is student-lead. I believe in the Socratic method, but appreciate following a curriculum, as well. I volunteer at a Montessori school and I know that getting learners of all ages interested and excited about a topic is the key to retention.
For the past two years, I have been teaching journal-writing and college classes at the Louisville Comprehensive Care MS Center. Prior to that, I have tutored students ages 7-40 in a various set of topics, primarily math and business subjects.

A Little Bit About Me...

The satisfaction that comes from working with a student, one on one, who is struggling, and seeing them change from angry and insecure to confident and proud is immense. I haven't found it anywhere else. As a teacher, my initial goal is to discover how to facilitate the individual learning styles of my students. I strive to instill a confidence that will lead to a willing and open mind conducive to further learning.
I have been a playwright for the last ten years, which is why I chose to get my BA in writing. Being involved in extensive reading and writing programs in and out of school has given me a deep appreciation for words.
