A Little Bit About Me...

I love working with children. I believe that children tend to learn best through repetition and making the experience fun. I like to work with flashcards and other such methods. If you take the time with a child they will eventually pick up on what you are trying to teach them. However, there are methods such as acronyms that can be used as well.

I am comfortable tutoring lower level math classes, mechanical design, or other engineering classes. Writing classes such as English, literature, or fine arts are fine as well. I have a BS in Mechanical and Aerospace engineering from MIZZOU. I am very proficient in technical editing, critiquing papers and writing technical papers.
Hands on, Practice based, through step by step instruction. Visual learning whenever applicable. Geometry, algebra, physics, and some calculus are in my range of teaching. I love working with children of all ages and abilities and helping them with academics. I don't believe I have a specific teaching style. In order to reach all students, a teacher must use a variety of teaching techniques to meet the various learning styles of the students and must therefore be both flexible and approachable. Teachers should work more as an aid or guide that facilitate the learning process, rather than as omnipotent instructors who attempt to force knowledge into the minds of their students. Information should not just be passed down as if it is the last and all-knowing word. Instead, the classroom must be student-centered with a high degree of interaction between the students and between the teacher and student.
