My name is Andrea Richards. I have been teaching in the elementary school for 27 years. I have been a certified Reading Interventionist since 2005. At that time I was trained in Reading Recovery. My discontinuation rate averages over 80%. I was also trained at The Ohio State University in how to implement Leveled Literacy Intervention developed by Fountas and Pinnell. In addition, I have received Barton Training, and I am currently working on getting my Orton Gillingham Certification to aide with helping even more severe dyslexia needs. I love teaching and seeing students understand.

I prefer one-on-one and I teach phonics approach to reading.
I have taught Elementary Education in Ohio for 30 years. I taught GED for Garrard County for 10 years.I have always enjoyed working with students who do not understand their subjects, especially in Math. I will change the teaching to fit the student, if understanding is not happening. There is nothing like hearing a student say, "Now I understand, no one has ever shown me that learning can be fun!"

A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University I have dedicated a lot of my time and effort to learning concepts of physics. I have earned a bachelor degree in physics with a minor in mathematics graduating with a 4.0 in both my major and minor classes. I graduated magna cum laude, was awarded introductory to physics student of the year, awarded the Ted M. George outstanding senior in physics award, and taught an introductory to physics lab at Eastern Kentucky University Fall 2009. I have tutored physics and mathematics the past 3 years independently and for the university. I have also substituted for Boyle County School district.
