A Little Bit About Me...

I was raised and born in Japan, and lived there for almost 19 years. My dad is American and my mom is Japanese, so I speak both languages. Japanese is my first language; went to Japanese schools until middle school, and started to attend to American school since high school. I never taught Japanese to anyone, but I used to teach English to young children in a day care in Japan. I took AP Japanese in high school, and scored 5 on the AP test.
I can teach speaking, writing, reading, and listening Japanese. Therefore, I have many styles of teaching depends on what you want to learn about Japanese.

Japanese is one of my top subjects! I was a Professor's teaching assistant for three consecutive years at Wheaton College. I have graded exams, conducted lab reports and tutored one on one basis.

I have received my business management degree from Cambridge College on June 2011. I have also received a Bachelor's degree in Music and General Education from Wheaton College. I have worked as a Japanese teaching assistant at a private Japanese kindergarten in Munich, Germany. I have also worked as a teaching assistant for the department of Japanese at Wheaton College for three years. I have graded exams, tests, conducted lab reports, and tutored in group as well as one on one basis.
I am able to change my teaching style depending on the best way each student learns a new language. Some can be best taught by listening, some by reading/writing, and some by speaking first. I will make sure all of those are developed equally. I also like to add fun game activity to learn Japanese such as giving assignment to watch Japanese movies and talk about or write about it.

My comments on tutoring Japanese : Japanese tutor for over ten years

I am native Japanese and graduated from a Japanese university. I was dispatched as a newspaper correspondent to the US, and later began to work a interpreter after I obtained a green card. Since the arrival of the US, I have a burning desire to teach Japanese and her culture to people abroad. I have been a home tutor for students of various ages, ranging from college students through grade school to business person, though I had been much involved in the IT industry last fifteen years. Because of my career as a software engineer, I had to spend more time for linguistic research of Japanese. To learn a language of Japanese, however, the linguistic theory or educational methods is less important. Through my tutor experience, I have come to the conclusion that a purpose driven method is the best. If a student wants to speak Japanese, he should speak Japanese a lot, while to read Japan ... read more
