As a trained teacher I believe my pedagogy is best placed as one that embraces universal design---or the use of modifcation and curriculum adjustment to make classroom and personal learning available to everyone My teaching style emphasises student responsiblity and construction (discovery) of their own learning. I value the knowledge that a student brings from all walks of life. My students through high expectations and abundant encouragement always reach for their full potential and remain positive in what they do and learn. As a teacher I see myself as a positive force for this. I do not believe in passive learning/teaching styles so engagement with everyone I teach is a critical part of my tutoring and teaching.

I achieved an English degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where my senior thesis was selected as a finalist for the UW Creative Writing prize. I am passionate about the English language, but I think that writing is becoming a lost art. Quality writers are quality communicators. As writing in general falls into disrepair, those who can write clearly and read critically will have an edge in every institution they enter--from the University, all the way to the workplace.
I enjoy hands-on teaching and one-on-one interaction with students. Good writing can simplify the thought process, and leads to students becoming better thinkers and communicators. I am easy-going and patient, but I take language and writing very seriously. There is no excuse for poor or careless writing, and I believe that an easily-taught, simple approach, can unlock the potential of any writer.
