It has been my experience that integrating the various teaching approaches that research has shown to be effective gets consistent results across student groups. However, I have also found that hands on learning seems to lead to high efficacy in real world work related tasks as opposed to a strictly theoretical approach.

I believe students will rise to the level of expectations set for them. I am a bit of a comedian, and I use humor to allay frustration in learning situations. I believe in setting goals and charting a specific path for reaching them, while being flexible enough to alter the path along the way. Praise and positive reinforcement are powerful tools when teaching challenging material, and I use them frequently.
I received a BA in General Business from WSU, and was honored as a Cum Laude graduate. The courses were varied and included a wide array of math application, from supply and demand curves to interest rate calculations. A Little Bit About Me...

In grade school I was the kid to whom others turned for help. In high school I found myself tutoring my friends in subjects as diverse as plane geometry, algebra, latin, and essay writing. It was not until I was working to earn my BA in English literature and volunteering as composition tutor in the English department language lab, however, that I discovered the real joy for me of one on one instruction.
