I'm Here to Help!!!

I have often thought about becoming a teacher and have been told by friends, families and previous instructors in my own learning I would make a good one but I feel my personality would be better served in a more laid back and less rigid atmosphere. I am very laid back, amiable and have a strong passion for what I've learned and what I do (the whole aspiring writer thing I mentioned earlier).
I am a twenty eighty year old graduate of the University at Albany where I received my Bachelors in English Lit. in 2011. I have no previous teaching or tutoring experience but that does not mean I lack the knowledge or skill necessary to help one learn and grow. I am an avid reader and aspiring writer and try to put thought to paper every day.

Prior to becoming an HSE Instructor, I tutored youth in a juvenile detention center. Currently, work for Dutchess Community College teaching HSE. I started working with Dutchess Community College in March of 2014 as a substitute HSE Instructor. In October of 2014, I was promoted to full-time HSE Instructor with my own classroom. I encourage students to bring reading materials that peek their interest to help them enjoy while learning. For some students that would be fiction, for others it's a game manual. The idea is to start where the child's curiosity lays and move from there into the required readings. For older students there are clear step-by-step ways to understand how to analyze text, come up with a thesis and how to write a focused essay.
