I love teaching. I have wanted to be a teacher since I was a child. I believe that all children can learn. I teach using a lot of hands-on experiments as well as a lot of peer tutoring. After our Math lesson, my students work on an Independent Practice and once they get it checked, they are allowed to help others. I believe all children can learn. I have learned that even though I am the teacher, there are several other teachers in the classroom. I taught children's church for five years, while in high school and college. I attended Mt. Olive College for two years and transferred to East Carolina University to obtain a degree in Elementary Education. I received my BS in Elementary Education, as well as a certification in Reading for K-12. I did my student teaching with a third grade class; I was early released(Nov.2008) from my student teaching to take a kindergarten position. I am about to begin the my third school year as a kindergarten teacher. This past year, I completed a 20-30 hour Just Read! North Carolina course. I love learning math and science and I enjoy sharing the same love of learning with my students. I like seeing the look on their face when they really get it! Students requiring tutoring are sometimes in academic distress and have anxiety therefore I have a more easy going and patient style of tutoring than most.
