My comments on tutoring American History : History can be incredibly boring - when it's taught in a boring manner. If you're having trouble paying attention in your American history class, send me an email! We'll use reframing, contextualization, alternative narratives, storytelling, and assorted other methods of engaging with content (and other long words) that should be REALLY AWESOME.

Fun. We'll talk about things in a way you understand, pursue strategies that are both silly and make sense, and use metaphors that are so ridiculous that you'll never forget them. I get very excited about things. It's very exciting. We'll have fun.

A Little Bit About Me...

In my Masters in Teaching program we are learning about differentiation and working to find the best vehicle by which to present information to students. For example, if a student has a talent and passion for music, perhaps setting some of their social studies and science materials to song will help them better absorb the information. A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy helping students work through tough problems by allowing them to make mistakes and then rework the problem a couple of times the correct way. Since this is my area of expertise, I am able to come up with examples on the fly that will target the areas most troublesome to the student. A Little Bit About Me...

Cumulatively, including extended substitute teaching situations, I have taught all grade levels 1-12 in various subjects. I would describe my teaching style as ecclectic. By this I mean that I discern which style or strategy would best accomdodate the needs of the particular child, based on their learning style.
