I begin by assessing the student's abilities, determining both their strengths and weaknesses. I make sure to have a solid understanding of what the student wants to gain/learn from the tutoring session. After the initial assessment, I focus on relevant problems, and explain my thought process in detail. I have the student work their own problems and approach each problem with the method I have taught them.
