Part of the advantage I have as a math tutor in particular is the fact that I failed math miserably in highschool myself. I have only learned what I know because I was bound and determined not to let any subject get the best of me. Unlike many math teachers who naturally understand math, I have the benefit of understanding precisely why students don't understand and the patience to explain a topic as many different ways as possible until the student and I hit on a way that works.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe a successful instructor is the most important part of teaching; one who is knowledgeable, wise, and be able to effectively communicate the knowledge to the students. I believe this can be achieved primarily by knowing the entirety of the subject taught and being able to connect with the students on an individual basis. The most effective instructors in my experience especially in higher education were effective at answering in dept questions on the spot and being able to connect with students with the course material rather than presenting facts or knowledge.

Teaching is a wonderful experience! My teaching style is laid-back, I'd say. I like having conversations in order to determine how someone learns. I think people learn best when discussing the material and really think it out before they start creating something. Guiding a student down the path of their own learning style is important because they will need those skills in the future when they go off to college or start a career on their own. I will provide students with the tools they need to succeed today and in the future!

A Little Bit About Me...

After my training in graduate studies, I have come to believe in heuristics method of teaching. I believe the students are best served when we motivate, encourage and provide an environment so students can begin learning on their own unique style. Instead of showing them how to do it, I plan to first know how would they do it. I want to encourage them to develop their own style of learning while giving constant feedback along the process.
