I am a recent high school graduate. I graduated in the top fourth of my class. My GPA is a 3.48. My best subject is math. I enjoy helping and working with others to help them succeed. I completed a class in high school named Teach Cadet where I learned the basics about education and the importance of being a versatile teacher. I was able to work with children from head start to elementary level. I also was a member of two organizations at school where I worked with sixth graders about the importance of goals and worked with fourth graders about the importance of team work.

A Little Bit About Me...

My experience includes two years of full time teaching at the PreK level. I also have experience working with grade level students through practicums, student teaching, and substitute teaching. Teach it. Repeat it. Practice It. Discuss it. What went right? WHat went wrong? What did they learn. Egg Cartons and White boards are my favorite manipulatives. Often mistakes are the best teachers.
My father was my first math mentor. He graduated from West Point - and tutored his roommate John Saxon. John developed the Saxon method. The next influencer was Investigations - the math program used at West School in New Canaan, CT where I did my student teaching. That program taught me to do "break apart" math - which teaches math independence. I have done more substitute teaching at all grade levels - and often play "Mental Math" with white boards -which the kids love. They work in teams and get the adrenaline rush of beating the clock and the teacher. This methodology - has worked really well for AD&D kids.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a tutor, I review previous test, quizzes and work with the student to see where the "disconnect" lies. Most students are very capable, they just need someone to explain the material in a way they understand. Some students are visiual learners, other kinetic learners or they learn by doing. As I understand how the child learns and ask questions to see "why" the student chose the particular answer, I am able to see the problem and use a different teaching style for tutoring purposes.

This covered non-biological sciences and mathematics, as well as conversational Spanish and English literary composition up to the sophomore college level, Over the last five years, though the three years of my undergraduate education were the most busy, both peers and high school students took advantage of my services.
