I have been teaching in a formal school setting for over 11 years. I have been a private tutor for 18 years. I have successfully taught and tutored several hundreds of students. I have tutoring experience for all of the Praxis Exams. I also have tutoring experience for the GRE. On an undergraduate level, I have successfully prepared students for the ACT and SAT.

SAT - Math is one of my top subjects!

I have been tutoring students of all ages since I was in high school. I began by tutoring my own peers in math and social studies. I would also tutor children from 1st grade on up in all subjects. Once in college, I tutored college students and younger in many fields, primarily mathematics courses. My specialty quickly became preparation for standardized tests as well as calculus because I have a unique ability to discover how each student learns and tailor the lessons to their needs. I can quickly find where the knowledge gaps exist for each student and fill in those gaps, in order to create a complete understanding of the topic, not just get them to memorize answers.
My teaching style varies for each student, I try to tailor the work to how the student learns.

I have been teaching and tutoring mathematics since the age of 15. I started working at a tutoring center where the student's ages ranged from 4-15. I then moved on to college where I studied math and computer science. I was a teaching assistant for Calculus I and II. My responsibilities included leading group tutorials and working one on one in the tutoring center on campus. At graduate school I taught Calculus I, II, and III as a standalone lecturer. After I graduated from the University of Chicago I was an assistant professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I begin by establishing rapport with the student, and usually I prefer a lighthearted, encouraging style of interaction. I believe every student is capable of learning, but may not have been shown the strategies and skills that will best suit them. I like to help the student identify their learning style, and then teach using strategies that will coincide with that learning style. Often when the student has been taught some different strategies for learning, s/he is more capable of tackling new lessons without additional help. I started my college career pursuing architecture because I enjoy drawing and design. Realizing buildings weren't my passion and agriculture was where I wanted to go, I changed to a triple major in ag systems technology, ag business, and economics.
