Never stop pushing yourself to learn

I have taught a large array of children and adults, anywhere from a 2nd grader struggling with reading to adult Burmese refugees. I have the patience and flexibility to successfully work with anyone. I started tutoring when I was around the age of 13. I taught a young Korean girl English, where I would have to create my own lesson plans. While I attended Okemos high school, I partook in volunteering experiences that dealt with tutoring. For two years, I was placed at an elementary school where I would tutor 1st-5th graders biweekly with anything from basic math to practice with reading. After graduating with a mathematics undergraduate degree in 1998, I have continued to study all areas of mathematics for the last 12 years. I have passed numerous actuarial exams that cover advanced mathematic topics as well as becoming a charterholder in the CFA Institute in 2009. I would love the opportunity to pass on my enjoyment of mathematics to others. I tutored extensively during my college years and feel I have a lot to offer the students of today.
I enjoy teaching and working with all children. I grew up as a teacher's son and now I am a teacher's husband so I have experience exploring different methods to help children learn.
