Reasonable Rates for a Passionate, Experienced Teacher

I think that the most important aspect of tutoring is finding out why the student needs a tutor, and to get to the bottom of that, it is important to listen to the student and figure out what the barrier to learning has been. Once that is solved, whether it be a lack of interest in the subject, or simply a lack of aptitude for that subject (not all of us are math wizards, for example), I devise an approach that fits the individual student's learning profile and interest area. Teaching styles have to differ from student to student in order to meet that person's needs; this is what I do to maximize the learning experience.

I have been involved in tutoring many of my peers throughout high school and college. I find it very rewarding to help others succeed in their education. Many of my peers just needed a different way to have the information presented to them. They needed to be outside of the classroom. They needed to feel comfortable. I gave them all those things as well as encouragement.
I try to find the best way to relate the given information to the student. Not everyone learns the same way. I will find what makes the most sense to the student and help them understand the given information. Throughout my education, I sometimes just wanted a different approach to the information. I would ask others their opionions and things all of a sudden were clear. That is what I want for my students.

No one style will fit all persons but the main methods that I use are discussion (Q&A) and hands-on. I like to use visuals such as pictures, slides, and other presentation methods to make the history and or subject more interactive and mentally stimulating as well as memorable. This system also translates to teaching. The last step is the most important; it forces the student to think for him or herself and instills confidence that the problem is not beyond his or her level of understanding.
