Friendly tutor with over five years of experience working with children and adults of all ages. My last position as a teacher was at William Thomas Academy in Sumter, South Carolina; it involved curriculum development as well as provided results for State regulations. Since my hire in August 2004, I have planned, co written, and implemented curriculum. As a result, 74.6% of my students exceeded the state average for the 2005 SCISA assessment of State Standards; scores in Seventy-five point four percent of my students exceeded the state average for the 2005. In addition, I have also implemented various academic incentive programs for student enrichment. With these programs, students continue to develop pride in their efforts to engage in the learning environment.

I prefer to use a hands on approach to education. I like to have the kids get engrossed in the subject matter by reading aloud and taking part in discussion sessions. I began tutoring as a volunteer with the America Reads program in high school. I continued volunteering with the Boys and Girls Club during college. After an opportunity to assist a professor in administering a freshman course, I applied to teach high school in Pasco County. I taught world history and psychology for one year before returning to school for my Master of Arts degree in History. I continued tutoring on the side, but spent most of my time assisting professors in the Department of History at Winthrop University as a Graduate Assistant where I edited exams and papers for undergraduate students.
