My comments on tutoring Reading Comprehension : understanding author's intent

I try to engage my students in every way possible. Reading and reciting are great for vocabulary memorization, but I try very hard to bring the subject matter to life in a meaningful way to the student. Pictures, music, relevant historical information- anything to help facilitate learning.

I am a an active learner and listener, so students and I are able to build relationships quickly and can focus on making learning engaging. I have volunteered at Crosswell Elementary school in 205, and in 2008. I worked with first, second and third grade children. I helped with reading, language arts, spelling, and test preparation. I am available to help with math as well. I also home school my two children as well, have been for three years.

A Little Bit About Me...

I tutor based on the individual's learning needs. I have encountered some that were visual learners ad everything had to be drawn/written out. I have also tutored students that can have me explain it and they grasp it easily. My teaching style changes according to the needs of the student because not every one learns the same. I do believe Accounting is a complex field and the student has to have an interest in the field to truly be successful in retaining what they are taught.
While earning my Masters in Accounting, I voluntarily tutored Undergrad students that were earning their Associates or Bachelors in Accounting. The students were enrolled in the local community college (Central Carolina Tech) as well as the University of South Carolina. I have earned an Associates, Bachelors, and Masters which all have concentration in Accounting.
