My name is Kary Heath. I graduated valedictorian from Luther High School in the spring of 2014. I am in my second semester at the University of Oklahoma and currently have 38 hours of college credit. I am currently maintaining a 4.0. I am an education major. I chose to pursue education because a large portion of my immediate family is teachers, including my parents and several of my aunts, uncles and grandparents. Every child can learn, but they don't all learn the same way

I have been teaching for over 10 years. I am currently a second grade teacher. I tutor during the summers and have students of all ages, including middle school and high school. I believe all children can learn. It takes a special teacher to find out how a child learns and create lessons to engage that learning style. From early on in my high school career I understood that passing AP tests could mean graduating from college in 3 years, saving money for grad school, and a chance to get into the professional world sooner. That's exactly what I did. I had to take some summer school and intersession classes, but I endured. All the while I was involved with an organization on campus that worked to educate the student body on a number of environmental issues, worked with volunteers on events and campaigns, and trained my peers to take the same leadership that I did.
I am first and foremost a listener. I'm laid back and patient but understand that success on exams and in school does not come to most without hard work and challenging yourself to go out on a limb. I love to learn and everyone learns differently. I believe that if the information is not being understood one way, then we need to find another way to instruct.
