Pre-Algebra is one of my top subjects! "Excellent tutor!" - Annetta, Lexington, KY on 12/29/12 My 11 year old son had brought home a poor grade in pre-algrbra. I was beside myself. I knew he was intelligent but obviously was missing connections that could be made with one-on-one help. I've always helped my son with his homework but I'm not a teacher, and especially not math one! I decided to hire a tutor and found Devin. Thank goodness I did. My son went to an A within 3 tutoring sessions!!! I like to ask questions and get the student involved. I like to get the student engaged as much as possible. I would like to observe the method in which the student obtains the most information and expound on that variable, triggering many senses for better memorization. I have always believed that each child is truly unique. I However do not believe that all education and forms of it, should be uniform. Working with children with special needs has allowed me to be able to get to know the student and adjust the curriculum so that the child will be able to benefit the most from!
As a communication disorders major I have acquired an understand and love for working with children. During my internship I was able to work one-on-one with children who have language disabilities. I believe each student can learn and it’s my responsibility to find how each one learns best. So much of it is about instilling confidence in the student that he or she is intelligent and capable of mastering the subject.
