Violin is one of my top subjects! I have about 9 years of experience with violin. I've played several orchestral works and solo repertoire such as Lalo's Symphony Espagnole, The Firebird Suite by Stravinsky, Partita in E Major by Bach, and other great selections.

I'm Jackie, and I'm a student at UNR. I have two majors: Music Performance (Violin) and Biochemistry/Molecular Biology. I graduated from a performing arts high school in Las Vegas (year 2011), known as LVA (Las Vegas Academy) as an orchestra major. I have about almost 9 years of experience with violin, and I absolutely love it. I've helped students on orchestra music, some solo repertoire, and other interests they have requested with violin such as the "bow hold." As of now I want to teach lessons because I feel like I have enough experience to be able to teach, and I absolutely like to teach.

This experience allotted me strong writing and editing skills.
Setting attainable and time limited goals and objectives with students is the key to their success. I believe every accomplishment must be celebrated in order to increase the students confidence in the subject matter and increase student self efficacy.

A Little Bit About Me...

I work with students from age 2 to 82, and with all origins, cultures, and orientations. I specialize in using mental triggers to help in effective understanding and information retrieval (e.g., moving cookies on a table to demo electrical charge). I also teach with analogies to real world scenarios, using sources from around the world, and throughout history. Some problems have more than one root course, and some have coupled interactions that are difficult to isolate. I will also point out where there is more than one solution to a given problem, where management often gets to choose, based on a tradeoff between budget and warranty.
I have taught classes/tutored/judged efforts in Math, Science, Controls, Robotics, Matlab/Simulink, Beginning Computing, Effective WWW Searches, Neural Networks/Artificial Intelligence, Alternative Energy, Writing Resumes, Spelling, Grammar, Effe ... read more
