German is one of my top subjects!

My relationship with the German language started while I was in diapers and has only grown since. Evidence? My first word was "Licht" (light), I first called airplanes "Flieger" (small airplane) and I used to wag my pointer finger and warn those approaching the end of our driveway, "No, no Strasse!" (no, no street!). I was raised in the U.S. and spoke primarily English at home, but I've been exposed to German my entire life. My curiosity of the language kicked in early, motivating me to study German from sixth grade through college, obtain a degree in German and spend a year living in Germany on a government-sponsored fellowship.
