A Little Bit About Me...

I have always wanted to be a teacher and love working with children of all ages. My areas of study were middle school science and social studies but I believe in my academic ability to help children across many aspects of learning. I believe all children can learn when given the opportunity. Some of the most influential people in my life over the years have been my teachers and I look forward to doing the same for children.

I really enjoy being around kids and helping them learn new things. When you teach a kid something and they finally get it, the sight of their face lighting up is priceless. I believe that one should teach using a variety of methods because all kids do not learn the same way and each individual method shows something new each time. I believe that all kids can learn so much if they work as hard as they can and put forth maximum effort. I think it is very easy to learn/teach using as many hands on examples as possible.

I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology earned in 1970 at Lynchburg College and a Master of Science degree in Environmental Health from East Tennessee University earned in 1979. I have taught sixth and seventh grade math, science and physical education and high school biology (three years total). I am now teaching a general environmental science course at National College in Lynchburg, Virgina. I have worked for the Virginia Department of Air Pollution and the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality for the last thirty years from inspector, permit writer and Regional Director.
