A Little Bit About Me...

As a student in high school, I became fascinated with Chemistry and went on to earn a BS in Chemistry. The position I landed after school dealt with additives in rubber and plastics, so eventually I went on to earn a MS degree in Polymer Science. This helped me to land a better position. When the recession hit around 2000 and I lost my job, I determined to learn more about computers and summarily earned two AA degrees while working first part-time and later full-time in the computer field. As a Paine College student, I do some substitute teaching to have some experience with teaching students a variety of mathematics and other subjects. I will be getting my BS in Mathematics with emphasis of Computer Science. I am planning to get teacher certification in Georgia and start teaching mathematics.
I am very patient with a child when it comes to learning. Some children learn differently than other children. Sometimes I would take each problem one step at a time. If needed, I would spend more time with a child that needs more help with a problem.

It is my belief that every person learns differently. Students learn best by different methods and learn at different methods. I find that the best way to tech a student, especially in a one on one environment is to find how the individual best learns and use that, rather than trying to teach by any already formulated method.

As an college graduate, I was passionate about helping others achieve and improving the world. I earned my BA in Interior Design with a minor in Architectural Drafting. I love being around and teaching kids. I am constantly around kids now. I am a single parent of a 10 year old dughter, and i am very into her school. First off i don't believe that a kid is dumb or doesn't know how to do anything. Children only know what we teach them. So if a child doesnt know how to do something it is a reflection on the teaching that he/she has had. I have never had a kids come to me and leave without learing more than they knew before they got to me. I believe in practice makes perfect, especially in math.
