I am kind of new to teaching. I have taught my little brother everything he knows, and I've been told I have a really good way of teaching. Younger students catch on very quickly to what it is I am teaching. If they don't catch on quick, then no problem. I'm very patient and never give up until a student understands the concept. I am very easy to get along with, so the student will have no problems with me. My teaching style is straight and to the point. My goal is to make the kids understand that the only thing holding them back is themselves. Hard work and a desire to learn will win every time. I LOVE the moment when the kids "get it", when they become confident in learning.
When I entered college I was immediately drawn to tutor my peers as needed. I worked with the single mom's program at IVC and also did job coaching for the City of Long Beach Disabled program. Once I graduated from college I had the opportunity to join the Boys & Girls Clubs, specifically designing educational and technology programs. I enjoyed tutoring about 50 youth a day. I come from a family with a rich history in teaching. I have several cousins, aunts and great aunts who work and have worked as teachers in the State of California. Like them, it is my dream and goal to make a positive difference in the lives of the students I teach and tutor. I have achieved this in my teaching experience by providing a welcoming and accepting educational environment where students are actively involved in the learning process. Certain theorists have helped me gain a broad understanding of the learning experience, which has helped me develop my teaching style. Two theories who have influenced my teaching style are Vygotsky's theory in social cognition and Piaget’s theory of mental development. A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated with a degree in English while devoting time teaching kids and even adults martial arts. Also, I have tutored many of my younger cousins during their elementary school years and currently middle school as well. I have published two poetry books and am planning on writing a third book. I have a tremendous amount of love and passion for reaching out to others. I believe we will always be students, after all, we continue to learn each day. I grew up building computers, designing web pages, capable of typing over 100 words a minute, repairing computers and so forth.
