I'm excited about helping students achieve academic success.

Teaching is what I’ve been doing my whole life. In every position I’ve held, there has been an opportunity for me to teach or train. My first job post baccalaureate was Mental Health Worker for Caritas Peace. There, I frequently assisted in the JCPS classroom as a teaching assistant. I’ve conducted religious training workshops through university campus ministry and continue to do this at my church. I continue to sharpen my skills by tutoring for Club Z Tutoring and grading state tests for Kelly Services as well as attending professional development courses in Corrective Reading, Classroom Management and technology in the classroom. I taught high school for 28 years. While teaching, I taught typing, recordkeeping, accounting, general business and a few math and English classes. As a graduate from both Bellarmine and Sullivan University, I was very head strong about my education. Earning two degrees was very difficult for me due to my learning disabilities. I have Dyslexia, ADHD, and a deficit in Reading Comprehension. I have overcome everything that came my way in my educational path. I have mentored and taught 5th grade children in the bible at Southeast Christian Church for going on two years now and thoroughly enjoy teaching them.
I have always felt the joys working with children. I feel that everyone with learning disabilities can succeed; they just need motivation and perseverance. Teaching has been my career since 1982. As part of a family of educators, I learned to teach children different ages, personalities, and multiple intelligences. I am a 60-year old man who has taught every subject at every grade level as an artist in the schools for over 35 years. I currently substitute in all the grades in Hart County so I have had to demonstrate knowledge of every subject at every grade level. I have been in the classrooms of public schools every day for about 60% of my adult life. I hold a Bachelor's Degree from Oberlin College with a major in Biology and minors in Chemistry and Math.
