Let's learn together!

I recently travelled to China to help various students in Kunming and Chengong with their oral and written English. I also spent some time teaching students spanish vocabulary and pronunciation. As of now I am nannying two children and a set of grandparents. I have spent many hours teaching the children daily Spanish, the grandparents also do not know any English but only Mandarin Chinese. Every day I help them to understand more English to make it more convenient for them to live in spokane. Last year I completed my minor in Spanish at Eastern Washington University and spend many days practicing and learning more and more from my Spanish speaking friends.
I obviously love for you to learn what you need and what you want to learn! I do most of my style with visualization and speaking. I believe that you can read it but until you put it into practice you cannot use it.

My teaching style is to captivate the student's interest with hands on activities that demonstrate academic concepts. After the student understands the concrete real life connection, then we move into the abstract representation of the same concept in print. Each student has strengths and weaknesses that I try to understand and adapt lessons to their unique method of understanding. I also find it effective to teach students with familiar vocabulary that they already understand and then build new ideas upon their previous knowledge. A Little Bit About Me...

I started teaching English-Language Arts & U.S. History in central California, where I taught 8th graders for two years. Then I moved to South Korea, where I taught ESL for one year. After that amazing experience, I moved to South Lake Tahoe and taught English to 7th & 8th graders. While teaching, I also tutored after-school programs for kids that ranged from 2nd grade to high school. Anyone can learn any skill that they are willing to work at. I personally prefer to learn by doing, so that is also how I teach. When a student works through examples, discussing how concepts apply, that application of the concept helps to solidify the knowledge. I am patient when teaching, and I believe that a relaxed environment is best for learning. Communication is the key to both teaching and learning.
I earned a Bachelors degree in accounting, with clusters in Finance and Spanish. I have work experience in auditing, tax and financial analysis. Currently I am working on an MBA, and plan to begin a doctoral program in 2011 as I prepare to become an accounting professor.
