I worked mostly in corporate training and development, but the high school students afforded me the opportunity to tutor in research, reading comprehension and composition. I have helped adult learners refine their sills in executive level composition for email, public speaking and reporting.
While I like students to know that I am an expert in my subject field, I also want them to take the opportunity to learn critical thinking skills. I love the process of really getting to know a student on an individual level. That is crucial to determine their learning style and their strengths. It is incredibly rewarding to experience a student's progression and also to learn from them in ways you wouldn't expect. I believe children should feel comfortable in an academic setting and believe that they can succeed. It is important to help students develop a positive attitude towards life long learning.

I then taught early childhood and continued to volunteer in schools. I now work in the education department at Bradley University ... read more
