Hello! My name is Jennie and I am a Kindergarten Teacher as well as a junior high cheer coach. I graduated from Augustana College in May 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with middle grade endorsements in Mathematics and Language Arts. I have worked a great deal with children of all ages (3 +). I am currently finishing up my 3rd year as a kindergarten teacher and have LOVED every minute of it! I've also taught other grades from 1st-8th grade throughout college and student taught a 6th grade classroom. I have experience teaching all subject areas between grades k-8. From my experience, I have realized that students learn faster and retain the information they learned longer if a tactile, hands-on approach is used. Currently, I teach K-5 students, and no matter what I'm teaching, I try to turn it into an educational game where the students are up and moving and having fun while learning. Each one exceeded my expectations and learned far more than anyone could have imagined. I truly believe in finding the style of learning that suits each student, and pursuing that particular route. And I have found that you can include each learning style by using a tactile approach. It is extremely simple to add in visual and auditory components within hands-on activities. While I like students to know that I am an expert in my subject field, I also want them to take the opportunity to learn critical thinking skills. I want them to gather information, ask questions and break things down to a level that makes sense for them. With that being said, I believe I have a teaching style that resembles that of a facilitator. A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy teaching and coaching. As a chess coach I taught a group of 10-20 children. I have also helped coach some of my son's sports, but what I really enjoy is one-on-one teaching although my experience is mostly limited to teaching my third grade son who is very advanced and teaching accounting to a non-accountant assistant at work. I am patient and respectful and am able to get along well with everyone.
I have a very strong level of education and experience in accounting and finance. I have a BS in Accountancy at the University of Illinois and passed the CPA as well. In addition to the insurance designations of FLMI, FFSI and AIAF, I also passed the Series 7, 27 and 63 exams and was a broker/dealer Financial and Operations Principal for several years.
