A Little Bit About Me...

As an undergraduate at CSU, Sacramento I volunteered my time to tutor a student from the time she was in 6th grade through 8th grade. Tutoring was done mostly in math. The curriculum I've studied at St. John's includes 4 years of language (2 Ancient Greek, 2 French); 3 years of laboratory science (physics, chemistry, biology, electricity & magnetism, etc.); 4 years of mathematics (including geometry, algebra, and calculus); and well as 4 years of "The Great Books of Western Civilization" tutorial wherein I have studied philosophy, literature, theology, political theory, and economics. I feel very comfortable in a tutoring position in most academic subjects spanning from K-college.
I am most familiar with conversation, as a means of relating information and testing understanding. I think that a through understanding in any subject comes about when a student can recognize the important concepts, and how they relate to each other, and speak those concepts in words ... read more
