I am more of the Cooperative learning teaching kind of instructor, I rather have students work together to get something right, rather then them do it alone, it's either paired up work or in groups or working with me.
Been in the teacher preparation program at Nevada State College for about 3 years now, started off in Step-Up program my Junior year of high school, have done some field observation at many schools, and have had to deal with one on one tutoring during the time I was there along with many fellow class mates. In my classes at NSC we have different preparation classes that are preparing us for tasks such as tutoring and handling difficult tasks such as helping students that aren't of the English language to learn in their own way the different techniques that we use.

A Little Bit About Me...

From having been in the education field for over 10 years, I have come to learn that my teaching style is very much dependent on the learning style of the individual. Introducing young children to language requires a very different set of skills and expectations that teaching freshmen composition at the college level. I think the most important aspect of a teaching style is the ability to judge and modify instruction so that it is suited for the learner, and I always intend to teach the student, rather than just teach the material.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is very unique. I believe that in order for a student to learn and retain information, they must be able to make a connection between the material that they are learning and their own life. Therefore I always ensure that I make real life connections when teaching skills. I show students how the material relates to their own lives and how it will be useful to them in the future. I also believe in allowing students to use their own critical thinking skills in order to solve problems. That means, that instead of teaching a student basic facts and details, I teach students how to think for themselves. I also enjoy using manipulatives and realia during instruction. Throughout my career as a student, I have always prided myself on the ability to help others learn. When I was a high school student, I was the one other students would come to with questions, and I always gave an answer with confidence. Then I got to college and began to study Biology. I was so amazed at the broad spectrum of the sciences, that I decided to add a Chemistry component to my college degree. Through Chemistry I could better understand Biology.
