My teaching style focuses on making sure students understand the bigger picture and not just memorizing a few facts. I work hard to make problems and tests less intimating and ease students stress levels when working with them. I find a confidence to be a big key to academic success when it some to math and science.
I have taught Genetics at University of Nebraska Omaha and been a lab instructor for general biology and Microbiology during my PhD program at UNL. I love to see the proverbial light come on and the students eyes widen and they say "OH! I get it!" I've tutored a wide variety of students from diverse backgrounds. I try to make mathematics fun, like a puzzle to be figured out, and remove the "hard chore" stigma which is generally hard pressed into a students mind by the time I arrive. Getting the student to believe in themselves and believe mathematics isn't a daunting task it's just difficult until you learn the tricks is my goal. I've notice most students find word problems to be most challenging so I purchased a word problem book to draw examples from which seems to help.
