I am a College Student studying English and Politics

I was a tutor in high school for many elementary and middle school aged children. I am also experienced with writing papers, so I can help anyone who is writing for a college application or essay. I am a very quick learner, so if there is a subject I am not as familiar with I am willing to study it to help a student. My goal is to help students understand the context being taught, as well as teach them the importance of this knowledge. I have often used the phrase "When will I ever need this?" and I have learned later on in life that each subject is important. This is the messageI want to get across to children, that learning new things is a very important aspect of life.
I am a very firm believer that each human being has a different way of learning. I also believe that each subject has a different way to be taught. I teach based off of my students, as well as the subject.

I love teaching and working with all chldren. I am a huge proponent of the dialectic and Socratic methods of teaching, while recognizing the need for the didactic to learn the basic methods of academics. I worked as the artistic program director of a community based non-profit agency for children ages 3-18. I taught theater and tutored core curriculam to children in the after school program. I also created and conducted literacy and arts training for the resident Americorps Program. I was the director and artist for Wolf Trap Early Arts Learning, which is a program developed to teach early childhood instructors how to use the arts as a vehicle to teach core curriculam. I learned head start curriculam, and the Connecticut Framework in order to design relevant training.
