I believe in a multi facet teaching style. Children learn by many different ways. Some children learn by audio, visual, or kinetic. So, I would teach in a style that suited by the student's needs. I love teaching and working with children. I understand differen conditions such as Autism and Attention Deficit Disorder. I really enjoy working with special needs students because they are great and I thrive helping these special students. I worked at Majesty Christian Academy for two years. During tha time I was a Teacher's Assistant. I assisted lead teacher with student instruction. I also supervised children and were responsible for taking care of children. I was offered a position and taught a computer course to elementary students. I have a Bachelors Degree from Old Dominion University in Education. I have earned my BA in Religion from The College of William and Mary. I have tutored every year since 2004 in situations ranging from private tutoring of special needs students, tutoring under-privileged kids and gifted kids. I have experience with children with ADD/ADHD and learning disabilities and prefer special needs students, however any student who needs to or is willing to learn will be my joy to instruct. My strongest areas of expertise are: Church history, early and modern Christianity and Judaism; writing, due to numerous papers I had to compose during my time at William and Mary (I am currently in the process of publishing one); reading comprehension; and math/science in younger age children. I am a creative teacher, meaning that I assess the individual and do not have an agenda that I adhere to. Normally, I am able to advance a child a grade level in reading with three months of tutoring and reinforcing homework, during the summer. However, I will go the extra mile to help a student be able to totally understand what I am trying to help them learn. I have numerous children's educational CD-ROMs for the children who learn better with that visual help. I love to watch children learn and love to be the one who makes them able to succeed.
