My comments on tutoring Special Education : I am well-versed in Responses to Interventions and have served many special needs students during my career. I have experience in working with students daignosed with Autism, Aspberger's, Downs, ADHD, and other "labels", but I am not certified in Special Education. We can discuss your specific situation to see if I would meet your needs.

Tutoring differs from teaching in that "style" is replaced by method. Some of the methods I have used in the past are rhythm and music, neumonic devices, and of course, drill and practice. I have been told that I am gifted with presenting material in novel ways.
As mentioned in my earlier description, I have eighteen years experience as an educator. I have taught students of all ages from early childhood through college and non-traditional adult education. I believe in making learning fun and engaging by relating concepts to points of interest for the individual student.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that every child has a different manner of obtaining and learning information and it is the instructor's duty to identify each student's learning style and to teach accordingly. Think of a key ring with all sorts of different keys on the ring. As a teacher you must try one key on the key chain at a time. Sometimes the first key will open the door to a child's success and other times it could be the fifth or seventh key. Teacher's need to be patient and work with their student's to best identify their learning styles and needs.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a certified teacher, with 25+ years experience as a special ed teacher, tutor, and homebound instructor for PK- grade 12. I have a B.S. Degree in Special Education K-12, an M.Ed. degree in Early Childhood Special Education, and a graduate certificate program qualifying me as an Assistive Technology Specialist. My most recent job provided me with experience developing and providing training to teachers and students, especially regarding modifications and adaptations that would facilitate inclusion of children with disabilities in the regular curriculum.
