I graduated National-Louis University with a 3.7 GPA, and am also in the Kappa Delta Pi honors society for teaching. I have had many years of experience in the classroom, and with many different programs. I also have tutored previously for Sylvan tutoring. I am a Golden Apple Scholar, which is a prestigious award for teaching scholars that I won my senior year of high school. I was a very shy child, and have been able to find comfort within to obtain success in not only the classroom, but in life. I am good at drawing students out of their shell, and figuring out how they can be most comfortable with academics to benefit the most from their education. I believe that my success in a tutoring situation is as dependent on the student’s style of learning as it is on my method of tutoring. I recognize not everyone learns the same way. I am a believer of asking the student where they are struggling and what they feel the problem is, so I can mold the tutoring session to best benefit him, or her, based on personality and comfort. I graduated from Monmouth College with a B.A Degree in Mathematics while being a four-year starter and two-year football team captain. I can serve as an example that studies and extracurricular activities can go hand in hand. For the first two years I was a chemistry major and my science coursework included botany, geology, and astronomy. Furthermore, my non-math and science electives were focused on ancient Greek philosophy, society, and recreation. The liberal arts curriculum and an incredible grammar teacher in high school have provided me with excellent literary skills as well.
