through my teaching career I have had numerous workshops and professional Development in all areas in education. I have been able to combine different teaching strategies to fit the needs of my students. In Arizona I taught Fourth Grade where 80% of my studens were English Language Learners of Hispanic decent. This was a real leaning experience. I took the Dibels training which really helped my teaching techniques. Using Orton-Guillingham guidelines with the hundreds of hours of teacher training allowed my students to excel. A Little Bit About Me...

As a current student at Central Michigan, I continue to strive for the best education I can possibly achieve. I have clepped out or aced all english classes at the college level and have found a great interest in writing and reading papers and essays. I am extremely familiar with both APA and MLA writing styles and have had numerous hours and years of practice writing papers and essays for my college level courses. I received a 1 on my MEAP writing and a 30 on my ACT writing/English section.
Al though I have never technically tutored or taught a child writing, I am interested in helping aid a child's learning experience. I have been at Pennfield High School for almost 6 months now and I have learned how to incorporate the new standards into the curriculum. I am currently teaching part time in the Mathematics department, teaching the subjects of Geometry and Algebra. I also have spent 5 years working for the Carman Ainsworth School District as an At-Risk tutor. One of the reasons that I'm interested in tutoring is that, although I love working with individual students and small groups, I am less interested in classroom management, discipline and the rest of the duties that come along with substitute teaching.
