My comments on tutoring SAT - Math : Expert at all SAT Math concepts. Particularly good at showing students how to eliminate incorrect answer choices and guess intelligently and strategically for higher scores. Also very familiar with the core concepts tested over and over again on the SAT Math.

I am currently employed by a college in Roanoke, Virginia as a tutor of mathematics, chemistry, and computer science and tutor elementary school, middle school, high school, college students, and others professionally. For the last 23 years, it has been so fulfilling working for three colleges and tutoring independently over 2,000 students of all ages in all areas of math and computer science, as well as college writing, adult literacy and English as a Second Language (ESL). I used to hate math, now I love it.

i am pretty relaxed and informal, but I expect students to do the work assigned. I help, but I don't do the work for them. I use Socratic questioning to get students to understand the material. I stress learning concepts and building on them as opposed to memorizing or guessing enough to pass a test.
I received a BS in Horticulture from Va. Polytechnic Institute and State University. majored in Biology (Botany) for 3 years at Virginia Commonwealth Univ. and College of William and Mary. Recently retook Precalculus, Calculus 1, Calculus 2, and Calculus 3 at Virginia Western Community College. I have a background tutoring and running a tutoring center for STEM subjects at a community college for 3 years. I have been tutoring in some form for 6 years. I have a certification in tutoring ESL and several years experience in that.

My education experience spans many areas. I have taught in middle and high school classrooms, have tutored for public school programs, tutored at after school learning centers, tutored in church programs, and managed a learning center as the human resources, business, sales, and education director in charge of all students programs from initial testing to post testing. I have just recently graduated from USF College of Medicine with a Master’s degree in Medical Sciences and hold a degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Illinois. I have extensive research experience in bioinformatics from the University of Illinois. Teaching has always been a passion of mine. I love working with children and students. Through the differnt classes and levels that I have taught I have always believed that every student can succeed, even though the paths they take to get there may be differnt than others.
