I also spent twelve weeks in West Africa teaching ESL and speaking French before my senior year at OBU. I work on a first-name basis and try to make sure that the student is LEARNING, rather than merely finishing his/her homework. I teach using a Platonic method, asking prodding questions and getting the tutee to figure out the material him/herself.
