While earning my MA in English at California State University, Fresno, I spent two exciting years teaching beginning college writing. I chose to teach the class for students who did not pass the entrance exam for Fresno State because I enjoyed working with the diverse, and primarily ESL, students who populated these classes. I also spent three years tutoring many terrific students there in reading and essay writing. Currently, I volunteer to tutor adults, and attend professional development meetings in tutoring, through the Tulare County Library’s “Read to Succeed” program.

As a design student, and throughout my life, I have held the ability to grasp new concepts in multiple subjects with very little difficulty. I have used this skill to assist classmates in better understanding difficult subjects mostly in mathematics, science, and computer applications. My bachelors of fine arts degree in interior architecture has enabled me to become proficient in subjects such as geometry, trigonometry, drafting, CAD, perspective drawing and rendering, environmental science, art history, and computer applications in PC and MAC. I love seeing students become excited about learning and becoming self-directed learners. Oftentimes, this means that the student takes the lead and I am there mainly to provide encouragement and structure. I try to provide a safe environment for learning.
