Using my undergraduate degree in accounting, I have 10 years work experience as an internal auditor and a computer accounting staff accountant for three CPA firms. I have an additional number of years of work experience as a mid-level manager of computer programmers and web developers. I have most recently been tutoring students working toward GED certification at a local adult education center. My teaching, tutoring, style emphasizes flexibility. While there are specific learning units that should be taught and retained by the student, the flexibility of the teacher, or tutor, will assist the learning experience for the student. It is my personal goal to strive for not only specific subject material teaching, but to also teach problem solving and critical thinking to any student in my classes.

My classes focus on getting what we mean onto the page, and making that as interesting as possible to the writer and the reader. After twenty-five years in book and magazine publishing, I decided to do something that mattered, so I went back to school, got a master's degree, and began teaching. I've been teaching college English for the last ten years, as well as writing poetry -- some of which gets published. I also tutor students in how to write their college application essays. I've published poetry, a novel, short s
