Everyone has their own way of learning. The key is to figure that way out and use it to their advantage. If the person is a slow learner, then a slower approach is necessary. If the person is a fast learner, then a faster approach is required.
I did tutoring as a high school student. I tutored other students in math. The tutoring program also placed me in kindergarten and first grade classes to help the teacher where needed. I have two children that are always asking how to do things. In addition, I have tutored adult friends for the GED test and the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB). I also distinguished myself by being on the dean's list for four consecutive semesters. I was also a peer tutor, working for the college. In the workplace I wound up being the first person in the history of the company (Biddeford Textile Corporation) to hold two management positions at the same time. I trained and supervised many fellow employees in operation of computer hardware and software.
I am patient and easy going. I believe that a person has to learn at a pace that is comfortable for them, and frankly sometimes a classroom setting does not meet their individual needs. Everyone can learn, and be successful once they know what works for them.

My experience as a tutor during my school years has taught me that students have hard time on subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Calculus and Biology, not because they didn't have good instructors, but because students were not provided enough background information on various topics. I have always employed a fun-filled curious environment to my students which have helped them come up with more questions and instill passion on the subject matters.
I provide enough background information on the subject matters first, give a big picture of the subject matters and then break things apart and teach them parts. This methodology has always been effective because students find it easier to learn all the necessary ingredients in order to grasp the big topic. I always make sure students are given enough practice questions on subjects like calculus, physics and chemistry.
