I am a Ph.D. student in biology at Texas A&M University. I have a bachelors degree in both psychology and biology. I have my master's degree in Neurobiology. I have been teaching at the college level for 4.5 year. My areas of expertise include general biology and psychology as well as neuroscience, anatomy and physiology, zoology, ecology and endocrinology. My preferred method of teaching is hands-on, through real experiments. Unfortunately, experiments cannot always be done, so I use lots of illustrations and age-appropriate analogies that are easy to relate to. Many times students are convinced that science is a subject too difficult to conquer, that they must just survive it, but science is all around us. I strive for that "a-ha" moment when a student realizes that all biological and physiological processes are interrelated and that the trick to understanding science is to build on previously learned concepts. I believe that teaching solid fundamentals and relating more difficult topics to already learned information is key to helping students thoroughly understand the subject.
