I have taught Special Education for 26 years and third grade for 6. I have tutored using the Reading Assist program and various other methods for reading. I also have many techniques for teaching math to young learners. I enjoy working with children one on one or in small groups. I have retired from teaching but would like to continue working with children part-time. I have been substituting the past couple of years since retiring. My initial approach is to ascertain exactly where the student stands prior to starting any course work. Students can be and are easily frustrated with work that is either beyond their ability or more advanced. Frustration can be either eliminated or reduced when students have a better understanding of their work.
